Over the years WEMSI have developed an engaging and robust approach to skills development which appeals to a wide variety of learning styles. The emphasis on hands-on kinesthetic learning embeds the core skills during the course and helps longer term skills retention. The unique use of small multi-disciplinary teams brings both realistic operating conditions and peer coaching into the skill stations, practical sessions and scenarios.

The high faculty to student ratio enables skills coaching alongside individual mentoring throughout the course. This allows the training sessions to be adapted to the needs of the group and individuals as well as for additional support on specific skills if required. The assessment process has also evolved and there is no longer a written exam or abstract practical assessment. Instead, continuous assessment is built in seamlessly throughout the course with regular feedback to the course students.
